I'm posting this here for anyone who has any interest in what's going on with our current gaming forum. We're currently migrating to a new one, which I will link to upon receiving its address.
Our Game Forum: calloftea.com/forum/index.php"As I am sure has not escaped notice, I have been suspiciously absent over the last month.
I am not inclined to share details as to why I was unavailable. I will only say that it was not expected and will certainly change the way I imagined year 2016.
Regardless, I assume that you are more interested in how it has and/or will affect the forum, so I will address this first.
The forum, the calloftea.com domain and other online services provided under the Call of Tea banner will be shutting down by the 13th of November 2015.
The recent outage you may have experienced was a consequence of preparations I have been undertaking. It was not intended and if I had not broken the things I broke, this announcement would have been posted much earlier. I apologise for the inconvenience that has drastically shortened the warning window.
As much as I have loved this community and enjoyed the wonderful time we have spent together over the past five years and nine months, I expect that I will not be able to stay with it, and more importantly, keep it online, for at least the next couple of months. Given the uncertain factors in play, I felt that the optimal course of action was to schedule a manual shutdown that coincides with regular service renewals, rather than risk unscheduled disappearance.
Despite the short notice (for which I will never stop apologising) I hope that this enough time for interested parties to take steps towards preserving the community. If anyone is interested, I would urge you to backup any data you would like to preserve and look for a new place to host it. Due to all sorts of very poor planning, I cannot directly transfer the forum's current home to another owner.
For anyone interested in setting up a new home for the Malkavian Madness Forum community, the forum engine utilised by this forum is an outdated version of SMF (Simple Forum Machine) which I found very easy to learn, although never quite grasped how to modify. I would recommend not repeating my mistake and making sure to keep the engine up to date.
And our gracious host and domain provider has been iFastNet for the majority of our uptime. It provides high quality services at very low prices (the Standard Plan has been more than sufficient for our needs) as well as professional and reponsive customer support. There is no provider I can recommend more.
Once again, I am sorry that I cannot accompany this community wherever it may or may not be headed next. And even more so for the fact that my poor administration has resulted in such a messy and unprofessional handling of related logistics.
Ever your friendly overseer,
SEDNA, shutting down.
